Weddings & Civil Unions
It is always a privilege to help couples prepare for their special day and be a part of that special ceremony that they will be sharing with their family and friends. This is a big day in your life and it is my job to make it as easy as possible for you and help you create the best day of your life.
I like each ceremony to be unique and very personalised. That means incorporating what is special to you both and making sure that what you had planned your day to be is created for you. It is very important to me that together we take the time to put something together that you will always remember.
Wedding & Civil Union Questions (Please Scroll)
CAN WE GET MARRIED AT ANY TIME OF THE YEAR?
Yes I can officiate at your ceremony at any time of the year and I am also happy to travel anywhere in New Zealand.
WHAT PAPERWORK DO WE NEED & WHEN DO WE HAVE TO DO THAT?
WHAT DO WE DO ABOUT VOWS?
Have a look on my Celebrant FAQ page. I have outlined it all there
WOULD YOU BE HAPPY TO DO OUR CEREMONY IN THE EVENING? OR A SUNRISE CEREMONY?
Yes I can officiate at your ceremony in the evening or first thing in the morning for a beautiful sunrise service. Evening services are often when couples have it as a surprise during another evening event or it is just the time that suits everyone. A sunrise ceremony is romantic and peaceful a great way to let the natural beauty of nature complement your special day.
WOULD YOU CONDUCT OUR OUTDOOR CEREMONY IF WE CHOSE TO HAVE IT SOMEWHERE DIFFERENT OTHER THAN A PARK OR A GARDEN ?
Yes I can do that. I love couples to be creative about their day and enjoy being in a place that they both feel happy in. It could be where you first met, where you proposed, where you had a fantastic holiday together, where you both play sport, on a beach, on a mountain, on a boat. You choose and I can be there.
Remember that in some cases for city or town parks you will have to book or seek permission from them first. Not all parks are open to allowing ceremonies and some charge. Others also have restricted areas and timeframes.
CAN WE HAVE OUR CEREMONY AS PART OF ANOTHER FAMILY EVENT?
Yes you most certainly can. I have done surprise ceremonies- an add on to a birthday party and at a housewarming party both of which the guests knew nothing about. They can be fun to arrange and kept secret.
WE HAVE CHILDREN, ARE THEY ABLE TO BE PART OF THE CEREMONY?
Most certainly, in fact I absolutely encourage family involvement. Your children can come up the aisle with you and walk back down the aisle with you, stand beside you or me during the ceremony or be held by another member of your family beside you. They can give the bride away or be a witness if they are old enough, carry the rings or a special gift, have a special chair at the table to sit in while you are signing, or whatever we can arrange to make your day very special.
CAN WE HAVE A MEMBER OF OUR FAMILY OR A FRIEND
TAKE PART IN THE CEREMONY ?
Yes you most certainly can. You can have someone speak, sing or play some special music for you, or present you with something special. There are no limits really. We can put that into your ceremony.
DO WE HAVE A REHEARSAL?
Yes we do. At your rehearsal before the ceremony we go through everything we need to with all of those involved to make sure it is all in place and everyone knows what they have to do.
WHAT TIME DO YOU COME TO OUR CEREMONY?
I come to your ceremony about one hour beforehand to make sure we have everything in place.
HOW LONG DOES A CEREMONY LAST?
It depends on how much content there is and if there are any other people involved - singing, playing music, speaking etc Without any other involvement and a basic ceremony it generally takes between 20 -40 minutes all up.
DO WE NEED TO HAVE A SOUND SYSTEM?
I have my own stand alone sound system that we use on the day. I use a microphone for most ceremonies but it would depend on how many guests you have. I can either play your music for you or just some of it. It has provision for tapes and a port and connection to use a CD Player or an IPod .
You are welcome to play any music you both like or I can also put some together for you. You can have a dedicated person to run your music which is usually for coming up the aisle, signing the paperwork and going back down the aisle. Some couples also use other musicians like a scottish piper or someone singing, you could even have someone playing a musical instrument during the ceremony.
There are no limits, its what we choose that matters
